As a member of the youth choir at Rockwell AME Zion Church, it would be no surprise that Shumon (Spears) Hudson would have music in her lifelong plans. The eldest of two, born to James and Tonette Spears, has continually honed and shared her vocal talent. Her beginnings were as most aspiring artists, in the church, her family and the community. She gained much stage experience by performing in family weddings, school events, and community functions.

With strength from God, encouragement from family and friends, and realizing that she had an utterly unique gift, Shumon began to expand her audience base by sharing her talent beyond family and friends. Along with school performances, she also began entering various community contests in which she reigned supreme and performed at different community events. As a teenager this was more than enough to whet her appetite for a career in the music industry.

As a native of Charlotte, NC, she has now made a name for herself locally by performing at some of Charlotte’s most notable events and venues. She has graced the performing bill for Jazz in the Park (an annual jazz festival in Charlotte), auditioned for the 2003 taping of American Idol, provided vocals during studio recording with Ira "Champ" Gilroy, and has been a featured soloist at some of Charlotte’s most popular venues such as Time Lounge, The Savoy, Delta’s, and STATS. She shared her vocal gift with the cast of "Sensitive to a Woman's Needs", a gospel play written by Curtis Blake and was the lead female vocalist with the Uptown Swagga band. 

Currently, she offers her melodic voice to her church home at Second Calvary Baptist Church, and to plenty of brides/grooms as she helps make their big day special. She has been referred time and time again as a professional with an angelic voice and a heart of gold. 

She is working on an upcoming album release to give the music industry the pulse and heartbeat that has been desperately missing.  She released her first single "The Difference" in September 2023 and it is available on all major platforms (Apple Music, Tidal, Spotify). She has had a long journey to the place where she is now ready to reach her largest audience base yet, the world. Shumon (Spears) Hudson will surely define her space in this industry and the world by sharing emotionally charged lyrics with her powerful yet melodic voice.
